Hex & Sentinel
October 18 - November 24, 2019

Works by P Elaine Sharpe & Kal Mansur.

Whether focused on unfurling sinewy strands or revelling in the geology of paint revealed through sanding, obscuring, and reconstruction, P Elaine Sharpe finds a tactile and sense-based pleasure in making her work, honing her interests in pushing the constraints of space and material. The Hexes are paintings on plexiglass, executed in a single continuous stroke. The undersides are painted with fluorescent pigments that imbue the work with an amplified sense of movement.

The Sentinel series of carved epoxy sculptures by Kal Mansur are unique in the ways in which pigment and substrate are fused into a singular object. Carved topographies become visible upon closer inspection, revealing translucent elements that cast hued shadows on the wall.
