JODIE FLETCHER

Jodie Fletcher (b. 1976) distills abstract themes from the natural and man-made worlds. She works with strips of canvas painted with acrylic, which are stretched and woven over hand-crafted maple frames. Her work explores the balance between organization and flexibility, straddling a space between painting and sculpture.

A graduate of the Carleton School of Industrial Design in Ottawa, Fletcher went on to work for Canadian successes - Mitel and BlackBerry. With BlackBerry, Fletcher was part of a select team tasked with defining a vision for the future. This work involved design workshops in Milan (for the annual furniture fair), Copenhagen, and London. In this role, she designed alongside collaborators Frank Gehry, Swarovski and Porsche Design.

Now working as a freelance industrial designer, she dedicates more time and focus to her artistic projects. With roots in design, it is naturally a source of inspiration in her artistic endeavours, providing a unique perspective.
